Kelly Ramsdell Fineman
In a Whirl

My mind spins.
Not in a dizzying way,
more in a hung-up way,
the way the little blue circle
on the computer screen
chases its own tail.

Something is processing,
somewhere,
but it’s not obvious
that any progress
is being made.

Round and round
and round she goes—
and it’s not so much
that I want her to stop,
as to start moving again.

Any direction at all would do.

postcard, post-conversation

It's sunny and awkward here,
now we've agreed to split up,
now that "what's next" is you,
Leaving.
